## What is Volumetric Weight?

Postagesupermarket generates its prices for you using a volumetric based system. This means that the price you are getting from the site is either based on the volume weight of your parcel, or the actual weight of your parcel, depending which one of these is greater.

Below you will see how each service calculates the volumetric weight of your parcel.

### CollectPlus Services.

- The price for CollectPlus is calculated on whether you use a two day or five day service, and whether you require a Signed For (Proof of delivery) service.
- There is NO volumetric charge, and the price is worked out solely on the weight of your parcel.
- The maximum weight for these services is 10Kg, with a maximum size being 30cm x 30cm x 60cm.
- With the ability to drop your parcel off at over 5000 locations throughout the UK, many being open 24 hours, these CollectPlus services can really offer you flexibility along with affordable parcel prices.

### DHL Express.

- The rates for this service are calculated on a volumetric structure.
- This means that the size of your parcel more often than not will be what we base our price on rather than the actual weight.
- We quote you on the volumetric weight or the actual weight depending on which one is greater.
- Obviously our quote system does all of this for you, however it is important you know how we give you a quote.
- The way to work out the volumetric weight of your parcel is as follows - Length x Width x Height / 5000
- An example of this equation is - Length = 50cm, Width = 50cm, Height = 50cm, Weight = 10 Kilos
- This gives you 50x50x50 = 125,000
- Now divide this by 5000 giving you a volumetric weight of 25 Kilos.
- So Postagesupermarket.com will offer you the rate for a
**25**kilo parcel as this is the bigger weight out of the volumetric weight and the actual weight.
