Volumetric Sizing for your Packages  discounted international imports What is Volumetric Weight?

Postagesupermarket generates its prices for you using a volumetric based system.  This means that the price you are getting from the site is either based on the volume weight of your parcel, or the actual weight of your parcel, depending which one of these is greater.  Below you will see how each service calculates the volumetric weight of your parcel.

cheap courier rates DHL Express.

The rates for this service are calculated on a volumetric structure.  This means that the size of your parcel more often than not will be what we base our price on rather than the actual weight.  We quote you on the volumetric weight or the actual weight depending on which one is greater.  Obviously our quote system does all of this for you, however it is important you know how we give you a quote.

The way to work out the volumetric weight of your parcel is as follows -
Length x Width x Height
              5000

An example of this equation is -
Length = 50cm

Width = 50cm

Height = 50cm

Weight = 10 Kilos

This gives you 50x50x50 = 125,000

Now divide this by 5000 giving you a volumetric weight of 25 Kilos.

So Postagesupermarket.com will offer you the rate for a 25 kilo parcel as this is the bigger weight out of the volumetric weight and the actual weight.
