Parcelforce was founded in 1990 from a delivery subsection of the then government owned Royal Mail. GLS are one delivery network that operate throughout Europe and Internationally. All couriers will bill you either on the actual weight of your parcel, or what is called the volumetric weight of the goods being sent. Basically they measure your parcel and do some basic calculations to obtain the volumetric weight of the shipment. If this is greater than the actual weight then this is what you will be billed.
