DHL - a division of "Deutsche Post" was founded in 1969 and has its headquarters in Bonn, Germany. Parcelforce was founded in 1990 from a delivery subsection of the then government owned Royal Mail. Advice for packing your consignment is a tricky area. Only you will know if the packaging is sufficient for the goods you are sending. Basically if you have packaged the item in its box for sending and it rattles around when you shake the box it is not good enough. The box must be able to withstand a small fall. The reason for this is that the carrier may drop the box at any stage. However please rest assured that the greatest of care is taken with all of your packages.

Your shipping documentation includes a unique tracking number. Once your goods are in transit, this number can be used on the carrier’s website to follow its progress right up to delivery. This is an invaluable tool for confirmation of delivery, or to establish a reason for delay in delivery.

All couriers will bill you either on the actual weight of your parcel, or what is called the volumetric weight of the goods being sent. Basically they measure your parcel and do some basic calculations to obtain the volumetric weight of the shipment. If this is greater than the actual weight then this is what you will be billed.
