Parcelforce was founded in 1990 from a delivery subsection of the then government owned Royal Mail. To this day it is still owned by the Royal Mail and operates from it's headquarters in Milton Keynes. Interestingly, the parent company of Parcelforce (Royal Mail Group LTD) also own part of GLS (General Logistics Systems). GLS are one delivery network that operate throughout Europe and Internationally. All couriers that carry parcels work on a volumetric pricing system. Basically this means that they measure and weigh all of the boxes that they carry through their networks. They will use the size of the parcel to obtain a volumetric weight. They will compare this to the actual weight and bill us whichever is greater. You do not really need to have a great understanding of this process as the website does it all for you, however we like to give you all the information needed when looking at sending parcels with international couriers.
